About the community
Welcome to Happy Stones S-D (Schouwen-Duiveland)! Happy Stones is a worldwide initiative with a simple aim: to make people feel good and bring a smile to their faces. Painted rocks are left out so that whoever finds one can hopefully enjoy it for a moment.
If you discover a Happy Stone, you may keep it or “release” it somewhere else so another person can enjoy it too. They are not collectibles; they are most fun when they keep circulating.
If you would like to start making your own, these tips will help. You do not need drawing skills or artistic talent: a brightly coloured rock with a heart or a cheerful message is perfectly fine too.
What you need:
- pebbles;
- water-based acrylic paint or paint markers;
- primer, such as Gesso;
- paintbrushes;
- clear acrylic spray varnish.
Write Happy Stones Schouwen-Duiveland (or S-D) and the Facebook logo on the back. Naturally, the creator will be delighted to know that the rock has been found ❤️. A photograph showing the location where it was found is greatly appreciated.
Release your own Happy Stones in visible places, such as by a tree, fence or lamppost along walking or school routes. Do not attach loose decorations such as googly eyes or glitter stones. They can easily come off and end up in nature, which we want to prevent.
