About the community
Jackson County Painted Rock Hunt is a grassroots campaign created to unite people through a creative activity. It is founded on the idea of encouraging POSITIVITY across Jackson County, Arkansas, and beyond.
We have only one rule: show RESPECT AND KINDNESS toward both people and property. Because this can be interpreted broadly, ask yourself three questions whenever you are uncertain:
- Will my rock or my words nurture kindness in other people?
- Am I placing joy in someone’s heart without expecting anything back?
- Will a person feel encouraged after reading my post or finding my rock?
Respect also means making deliberate choices concerning other people’s property. Never take rocks from public or private landscaping to paint unless you have permission. Removing them from a state or national park is illegal.
Do not leave rocks at private homes or on private property without permission. Use judgment in public places and, if uncertain, request permission — particularly before leaving a rock indoors. Some businesses welcome rocks because they can create goodwill and attract visitors, while others do not. I have heard both of businesses delighted to receive them and of businesses discarding every rock left behind.
Never put a rock anywhere it could cause physical or mental harm to a person or anything else. Make certain that every rock carries the tag #jcprh.
We paint rocks and leave them in public places for unsuspecting people like you to discover, spreading happiness and joy. We ask finders only to take a photo and post it here. You may keep the rock or hide it again for another person. Pay it forward. We belong to the kindness rocks project.
Regarding our Facebook page: To respect all members, any post that begins negatively or becomes negative in any way will be deleted. We know we cannot make everybody happy, but we can preserve mutual respect.
We all share one purpose: spreading JOY. KEEP CHOOSING JOY! 🌱❤️😊
