About the community
The idea behind Love on the rocks is simple: participants paint pebbles, hide them in nature and leave strangers to discover them by chance, or almost by chance.
The inscription loveontherocksCH on the back directs finders to the Facebook group. Finds may be kept or hidden again. The group encourages inviting friends and involving children, for example by painting rocks on rainy days and hiding them during later walks: more participants mean greater chances of finding a painted rock.
Members can show creations, indicate approximate hiding places, post photographs of finds to let their painters know, and ask questions or discuss the hobby.
Instagram users can also share creations and finds with #loveontherocksCH.
The group's introduction describes “Love on the rocks” as popular in the United Kingdom and France but less widespread in Switzerland. Its organisers created the Swiss page after discovering this free family activity as a way to spread good cheer and share love through rocks in Switzerland.
