Painted Rocks Atlantic Canada best practices
- A found rock may be kept or hidden again. Please post it, because we love following the rocks’ travels. If you keep one, consider painting one or two others to pay the kindness forward.
- Wash rocks before painting them, including store-bought ones.
- Acrylic paint, Gelly Roll pens, Sharpies and paint pens give the best results.
- Writing “Painted Rocks Atlantic Canada” somewhere on a rock improves the chance that it will be posted after discovery and hidden again. On a small rock, use #PRAC so the finder can locate our Facebook group.
- When the paint is dry, a clear coat of polyurethane or spray Mod Podge helps preserve its appearance. Hold the can away from the rock and use broad strokes so the paint does not run.
- Keep rocks out of lawnmowers’ paths; a mower will certainly damage the rock and could seriously injure somebody.
- Never hide rocks inside shops, where people might be accused of shoplifting.
- Have fun, stay safe and enjoy time with friends and family.
