Five common questions about rock painting
- Where can I find rocks? Try a nearby landscaping company, Lowe’s, Home Depot, fields or rivers—the last is where I collect mine. If those options fail, order them from Amazon.
- Must rocks have a base coat? That is a personal choice. I simply wash mine in soapy water, rinse them and let them dry.
- What paint should I use? Acrylics; I buy mine from the dollar store.
- How are rocks sealed? Use a weather-resistant, non-yellowing spray, or choose from the many brush-on sealers available.
- What can I do with finished rocks? I hide mine locally and take them on holiday to place in different areas. They can also go in flower beds or be given as presents.
